Epoch master® 4A zeolite, the chemical formula is Na12Al12Si12O48 · 27H2O or Na12 [(AlO2) 12 (SiO2) 12] · 27H2O. It is a three-dimensional skeleton structure compound composed of silicon oxide and aluminum oxide tetrahedron, belonging to cubic crystal system. The center of the crystal cell is a hole with a diameter of 1.14A, which is connected by an 8-member ring and six similar holes. The diameter of the free hole formed by this 8-member ring structure is 4.12A, so it is called 4A zeolite. Its traditional synthesis methods include water glass method, activated clay method, bentonite method, kaolin method and coal gangue method. The water glass process is mature and easy to control, but the cost is high. The activated clay method and bentonite method need to add aluminum source, which is costly, and the equipment needs to be protected against corrosion. The kaolin method and the coal gangue method make use of the characteristics that the alumina-silica ratio is the same as that of 4A zeolite, convert it into metakaolin with reactive activity, and conduct hydrothermal crystallization conversion reaction in the caustic soda aqueous solution to make zeolite. However, this process requires high temperature roasting of raw ore, resulting in large energy consumption, and at the same time, it will also produce a certain degree of pollution to the environment.
It is a non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and flowable white powder with strong calcium ion exchange capacity and no pollution to the environment. It is an ideal phosphate-free detergent agent to replace sodium tripolyphosphate. It has strong surface adsorption capacity and is an ideal adsorbent and desiccant.
4A zeolite is a white solid particle. It has a network structure, contains uniform pores, pore diameter of 0.42 nm, specific surface area of about 600 m2/R. It is insoluble in water and organic solvents, and can be dissolved in strong alkali and strong acid. When the temperature is more than 800 ℃, the white silica structure is formed by recrystallization. There are adsorbed water, liquid, gas and unsaturated organic substances. It has the ability to exchange calcium ions. The theoretical exchange capacity is 352CaCO3mg/g, generally 290 ~ 320mgCaCO3/g, whiteness ≥ 95%, pH value 10 ~ 11.5, apparent density 0.3 ~ 0.5g/cm3, and average particle size is 2 μ m. Particle size distribution ≤ 4 μ M accounts for more than 85%. It is used as an auxiliary agent for non-phosphorus detergent, instead of sodium tripolyphosphate; In petroleum and other industries, it is used for drying, dehydration and purification of gases and liquids, and also as catalyst and water softener.
